Love Affair: Mid-Century Modern

I lurrrve the look of mid-century modern furniture. It's everywhere these days, especially in the blogosphere, but unless you stumble upon a great deal when you're thrift shopping or cruising Craigslist, it's hard to find mod pieces that don't break the bank.

Which is why I squealed--loudly--when I found these mod-looking pieces from Urban Outfitters.
Danish Modern Side Table, $130.

Mid-Century Modern Rocker, $288. (Free shipping!)

A Sunny Outlook

Ever since I put my wardrobe on the Economy Diet, I haven't been able to update my look in my usual indulgent fashion. But I've learned that adding an accent piece to basics already in your closet can make a big difference. With that in mind, I've found a new appreciation for the accessories department at Target. I'm particularly in lurrrve with their fashion scarves. Spring doesn't always mean warm weather right away, and their lightweight scarves available in the season's hot, vibrant hues like lemon yellow will warm you up and rev up your look.

Lurrrving Manimal Moccasins

If pajamas and slippers were accepted as everyday fashion, I would wear nothing else. I seriously considered a career in healthcare solely based on the idea of wearing scrubs to work. That and helping others.

Until sweatpants stop shouting "I give up!", I look for every opportunity to combine comfort with style (mocs are apparently all the rage this fall). Enter Kristen Lombardi's Manimal Moccasins. They come in vegan and organic leather (lurrrving the vegan). The html link says "children" but I'm pretty sure these shoes are all woman. Adorable... Sustainable... Affordable? Well, you can't have everything.

Trendwatch: Sporty Chic

I'm so psyched that sporty chic is in for Spring/Summer 2008. It works out perfectly with my signature ensemble: flip-flops, feminine skirt and fun graphic tee.

My sister knows me too well and gave me this Sporty Barrel Bag from Free People for my birthday last month (thanks, Boo!). Now my look is complete AND I'm in style:) Be sure to check out the grosgrain ribbon detail and yellow printed inner lining. Lurrrving the lining. It's still available and on sale!

Trendwatch: The Maxi

Maxi dresses are all the rage these days, and for good reason. They elongate, they're slimming, and they can make even short girls like me look tall (as long as I'm not standing next to one of my leggier friends).

They're also really comfortable, and great for hot weather. Some favorites:

Joie "Roll the Dice" floral maxi, $324 from Bloomingdales.

Strapless curvy jersey maxi dress, Victoria's Secret, $85 (on sale).

Rosarito maxi dress, by Marciano, $178.

Jaclyn dress, $49.50 from Delias (catalog and web only).
